I've Never HAD To Advertise Before

I've come across this statement countless times when working with trades business owners. It’s worn almost like a badge of honour with pride, as if to say - “I always do a great job and I get all my work through referrals and word of mouth.” Word of mouth is a great testament to the high quality experience you provide for your clientele, it tells me you’re great at what you do. So if you’re great at what you do, wouldn’t you want more people to know about it? 

The market in which you operate consists only of people that know you exist.  It is fundamentally impossible for someone to use your service if they are unaware you even exist. So just take a moment and ask yourself, “what percentage of the local population know I exist, and that I have a service that they need?” - your answer to that question is your actual “market” 

Now before we worry about growing market share, simply growing our market is an extremely effective way to generate more potential clients. So how could you do this? You could sit up on your high horse, and continue to rely solely on your existing clients to tell more people about you in order to grow your market. OR you could realise that you have a great product and service and the only thing holding you back is people not knowing about it. 

Simplistically - if you’re looking to grow and scale your trade business you need more of 2 things - Clients & Staff - and the fastest most effective way to reach these people is through a well planned and deliberate marketing strategy.  

So if you’ve - “Never HAD to market before” you’re sitting on unrealised potential, and now is the time to unlock that and be all you can be.
